Sadak 2 is all set to release digitally on Disney plus Hotstar

Sadak 2 is a sequel to Bhatt’s own 1991 hit movie Sadak. Sanjay Dutt and Pooja Bhatt will be glimpsed reprising their parts from the original movie.

Earlier set for a theatrical release, it was eventually given a digital premiere owing to the closure of theaters amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The film that denotes Mahesh Bhatt’s directorial return after a couple of decades, had its trailer dropped on Youtube, on Tuesday. But things have been downhill ever since.

Sadak 2 is currently trending at No. 2 position on YouTube, but that is for all the unfair reasons.

At the time of the press, the trailer of ‘Sadak 2’ had a whopping 10 million dislikes, as compared to just 594k likes.

With that undesirable record, the clip has stepped into the rare list of the ’10 most disliked videos’ on the entire video sharing platform.

It was also recognized as the most disliked trailer video on YouTube, whipping the Call of Duty trailer: Infinite Warfare (3.8 million dislikes) by an enormous margin

Remarkably, this is in fierce contrast to the record held by Dil Bechara, Sushant’s final film, released after his cessation. With 10 million (1 crore) likes, it is the most-liked film trailer on YouTube.

But why is it receiving so much hate?

There are several reasons why Sadak 2 has been amassing so much hatred. Some are associating it with the demise of Sushant Singh Rajput whereas some are judging it based on nepotism. Here’s a list of supposed reasons why Sadak 2 is being disliked.

Sushant’s sudden demise

‘Sadak 2’ has been drawing fire on social media since Sushant Singh Rajput’s death on June 14. The insider vs outsider debate reignited on social media with Sushan’s death. A section of the internet also believes that he was a victim of “Bollywood’s nepotistic attitude towards outsiders” as the actor allegedly lost seven films earlier.

Earlier in 2019, some reports suggested Shushant’s appearance as the lead actor in sadak2 but later he was replaced by Aashiqui 2 actor Aditya Roy Kapoor.

Star of movies such as M.S. Dhoni and Chhichhore, Sushant was found dead at his Mumbai home on June 14

Citing initial evidence, the cops had termed it a case of suicide. But most of his fans believe that he was brutally murdered

Meanwhile, the comments section under Bhatt’s movie trailer has turned into a warzone as cries to bring “justice” to Sushant Singh Rajput grow by the second.

“Tribute for SSR. Make this trailer the most disliked trailer in the whole world. I hate nepotism,” read a comment on the video. While another person wrote, “This dislike button proves how much we hate nepotism.”

“It’s not a big deal disliking this trailer. But when the movie releases, we should not watch it to prove that we have the power. My humble request to people, please do not watch this movie in Hotstar forever.”

Alia’s attitude towards Sushant

According to some reports, the hatred is partly because of the lead actress of Sadak 2, Alia Bhatt, who has been accused of mocking Sushant during a talk show called  Koffee with Karan back in 2016. She was asked to rate the actors- Ranveer Singh, Varun Dhawan, and Sushant Singh Rajput, and her reaction to Sushant’s name was “ Sushant Singh Rajput who?” which was followed by a giggling voice of the host Karan Johar.

Twitter reminded her of the episode when she posted a sentimental message paying homage to Sushant after his death.

Nepotism and star-kids

Sushant Singh’s brother in law launched an app called nepometer. To track nepotism in Bollywood, the first film to have been measured in the app was Sadak 2 and nepometer found it to be 98% nepotic, and soon there was a call to boycott the film.

Furthermore, it stars Sanjay Dutt, Aditya Roy Kapur, and Pooja Bhatt. All the four lead actors are star kids, which certainly isn’t acceptable to many who have accused nepotism as a reason behind Sushant’s mental health.

Mahesh Bhatt’s connection has added to the fire

Meanwhile, the fact that Mahesh Bhatt has directed the movie has also added to the controversy. Bhatt is known to be in close relation with Rhea Chakraborty, actor and Sushant’s former girlfriend, who has been accused by the late actor’s family of fraud and abetment to suicide. The analysis says that fans have alleged Mahesh Bhatt’s involvement in Sushant’s murder, which apparently is drifting his come back far apart from the rays of success.
